Google Unveils Play Games Sidekick with Gemini AI
With the help of fun AI assistants in the form of Gemini, new software for gaming on your mobile is the Play Games Sidekick, which assesses the gameplay and gives real-time suggestions and assistance superimposed on the display.
Core AI Functionality
An ultimate ability is Play Games Sidekick with Gemini Live's infinite capabilities. The AI uses the screen content of the device as input so it can "see" how the game is being played. The players can ask for help or tips on where to go. Apart from providing direct assistance via AI, this tool can surface various links to guides that are relevant to the game being played.
Additional Overlay Features
The Sidekick overlay will have additional functions beneficial to gamers:
- Buttons for instant screen-recording, taking a screenshot, and starting a YouTube stream.
- A toggle to switch on "Do Not Disturb" mode.
- A shortcut link to the game's achievement list.
New Unified Gaming Profiles
Along with Sidekick, new gaming profiles were launched. The profiles will combine a player's achievements and in-game stats across several titles on both mobile and PC. The system will incorporate social features that allow subscribers to friends' profiles and track their game libraries, while a feature for discussion will be updated in the future.
Availability and Partners
The new Gemini overlay features would eventually launch in selected games in the near future. Initial partners in the project have been identified as game studios EA and NetMarble.
