Valve's November 2025 Steam Hardware Survey Results
Valve has released research on the gaming hardware in use by Steam users for the November month of 2025. It gives very important changes in the pattern of use of operating systems, as well as on the graphics cards and the standards for memory.
Operating Systems: Increasing Windows 11 Dominance
The gradual decline of older operating systems is speeding up. Windows 11 increased the share by a total of 2.02%, bringing it to 65.59% among Steam users. On the other hand, Windows 10 has recorded a loss with the percentage reaching below 30% for the first time. The OS has dropped to 29.06%, with a 2.08% loss.
Key Hardware Trends: RAM and Processors
Most likely, core system components are being upgraded for gaming purposes, and now the trend leaning towards that includes more memory and stronger processors
- RAM: 40.94% now uses mainly 16 GB, whereas rising adoption of 32 GB currently accounts for 36.96%.
- CPUs: Six-core processors still capture the most considerable part of the user base at 28.44%, although this number does reduce slightly by 0.25%. Eight-core units drew even closer they increased by 0.42% to drag themselves up to a total of 26.23%.
- Storage: More than half of all participants (52.07%) now hold over 1 TB of total disk space, an upward shift of 0.73%.
Graphics and Display Preferences
November included a popular change in the most commonly used graphics card on the platform. The portable version of the RTX 4060 was above the desktop RTX 3060 as it took the first position with a 4.22% share (+0.12) as opposed to the 4.16% left after a slight decline.
In terms of displays, Full HD (1080p) remains the standard for the majority at 52.83%, despite a decrease of 0.64. Meanwhile, 1440p resolution is gaining traction, rising by 0.86% to capture 20.79% of the market.
Virtual Reality Market Leader
The top headset in terms of VR is consolidated fully under the Meta Quest 3, which captured 27.13% of the total VR devices registered on Steam, after a November increase of 0.65%.
