LG Showcases CLOiD, a Humanoid Robot for Home Assistance

LG revealed its newest humanoid robot son CLOiD at CES 2026, a novel concept intended to help and automate a variety of household chores. Range of tasks is enormous, from laundry folding to food serving.

Design and Mechanical Features

CLOiD has several traits that enable it to make sense of everything around it and handle something with care.

  • AI Head Unit: The head of the robot houses a display, cameras, and sensors for spatial orientation inside the space and interaction with the user.
  • Articulated Arms: It has two arms with joints at the shoulder, elbow, and wrist. The hands feature independently moving fingers, granting the dexterity needed for delicate tasks.
  • Mobility: CLOiD has a wheeled base on which it moves like the more known robot vacuums at present.

However, the drawback is that it can only pick things up from knee level up, which precludes it from grabbing anything lying on the floor, for instance.

Demonstrated Capabilities

With several assignments, LG showed CLOiD performing on-demand versatility. The robot was shown as being able to start washing clothes, followed by folding. A food-serving and smart appliance-controlling feature were part of the demonstrations. It even stood next to an individual while exercising to showcase what it could do, but LG was not specific about this particular activity.

Current Status and Future Development

LG CLOiD is a concept currently under development and not a product in readiness for the market. The company has reiterated its commitment to developing practical home robots for housework. In addition, LG plans to leverage the robotics technology developed in support of CLOiD into future home appliances.
