Sony PlayStation Launches The Playerbase Program To Integrate Fan Likenesses Into Gran Turismo 7 And Future PlayStation Studios Titles Through Global Scanning Sessions
Sony has launched 'The Playerbase' program to create everlasting digital representations of devoted gamers in its gaming franchises. PlayStation introduces its latest initiative "The Playerbase" which aims to enhance community connections by establishing direct links between users and PlayStation products. According to Isabella Tomatis who holds the position of Global Marketing Vice President at Sony Interactive Entertainment this program presents dedicated fans with the opportunity to include their personal likenesses in major PlayStation Studios video games.
The pilot phase of this fan integration project focuses on the racing simulation title Gran Turismo 7. The selection process, which is live as of today on the official PlayStation portal, requires applicants to provide details regarding their long term history within the PlayStation ecosystem which needs to be verified through their PlayStation Network account ID. The brand is currently selecting participants from multiple regions in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South Africa who will present their personal brand connection to a judging panel.
The chosen individual will undergo a significant collaborative process. The selected fan will participate in a scanning session at a visual arts studio in Los Angeles to capture their likeness which will then be used to create a Fantasy Logo and vehicle livery design through collaboration with professional designers. The content will become a permanent element of the Gran Turismo 7 Showcase menu which will serve as an official digital repository for fans to showcase their contributions. The winner will obtain an exclusive in game character portrait which will only be available for a limited period.
Sony management has stated their intention to implement this plan as a permanent operational approach that will continue indefinitely. The Playerbase development enables the studio to create future character portrayals which will display the unique visual elements and storytelling elements of upcoming PlayStation Studios titles. The shift indicates that the gaming industry is transitioning away from standard community management practices toward creating closer relationships with players who drive platform engagement.
