iFFALCON Thunderobot Q5AD YYDS Edition Gaming Monitor Launches in China With 300Hz Fast IPS Panel and HDR 400 Specifications for Competitive Gaming at 88 Dollars
The TCL sub brand iFFALCON has announced their Thunderobot Q5AD YYDS Edition gaming monitor in the Chinese market. The aggressive price of 597.94 CNY about 88 dollars gives the display performance similar to flagship competitive gaming monitors, as it targets entry level gamers looking for high refresh rate performance for first person shooters without an entry level display's price.
The monitor uses a 24.5 inch Fast IPS panel and offers a native resolution of 1080p. The native refresh rate is 280Hz and with the monitor's overdrive mode via the DisplayPort cable it is able to push out 300Hz. The screen itself has a gray to gray response time of 1ms in order to reduce motion blur during quick movements in a first person shooter. Peak brightness is 400 nits, which is what it takes in order for the panel to earn a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certificate to produce greater contrast and color accuracy.
The colors given with the screen for a low cost gaming monitor are impressive. It covers 99 percent of the sRGB spectrum as well as 93 percent of the larger Display P3 color gamut. For competitive gamers the monitor offers several specialized software settings such as MPRT Plus and Overdrive, dynamic crosshair overlays and shadow boosting to help reveal opponents in darker areas of the map. Both AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G SYNC are supported for adaptive refresh rate.
There is one DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.0 port on the back of the monitor stand. For longer gaming sessions the monitor uses a blue light filter and has a Flicker Free technology powered by DC Dimming in order to reduce eye strain. The provided stand has very limited ergonomics, but at least supports a tilt angle of 5 degrees down and 15 degrees up from the center.
