Xiaomi 17 Max Officially Launching This May in China with Massive 8000 mAh Battery Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Chip and Leica Photography Hardware
Xiaomi is extending the 17 series flagship series with the release of the Xiaomi 17 Max, which will officially be released in May this year in China based on the company's Weibo account. Chinese consumers have already started to place orders for the smartphone and the company has released official teaser images for the device.
The Xiaomi 17 Max will pack a massive 6.9 inch flat display with flat sides to allow for greater screen real estate. Xiaomi has confirmed the device will pack a Leica tuned camera system continuing its collaboration with the photography giant. While the official teasers only showed a light blue variant industry sources have also released internal specs and available color variants.
Industry insiders, like the popular Digital Chat Station, have reported that the Xiaomi 17 Max will sport the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. On the camera front, the phone will pack a massive 200 MP main sensor accompanied by a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom which will position the Max model in the highest tier of smartphone camera configurations. Digital Chat Station also posted some render images with the device in a black and white variation alongside the official light blue one.
Recent rumors claim that the Xiaomi 17 Max would pack an incredible 8,000 mAh battery which is a huge improvement from other models in the series. The 17 Pro Max has a 7,500 mAh battery and the 17 Ultra a 6,000 mAh one. Wired charging is expected to be at 100 W while wireless charging could be at 50 W. Additional reported specs include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and symmetrical dual speakers.
The starting price for the Xiaomi 17 Max is rumored to be around CNY 5,199, a very affordable price range for its purported specs. May has been confirmed as the release date for China though no exact date is known, and Xiaomi have remained silent on a potential international release, but it looks like the 17 Max would focus more on screen real estate and battery life compared to the more experimental 17 Pro and 17 Ultra.
