Redmi just revealed its latest mid range smartphone. The Redmi Note 17 Pro packs a giant battery and premium water protection into an incredibly thin shell. According to the official launch presentation, the brand wants to challenge what buyers can expect from a budget device.
The front of the smartphone is dominated by a 6.83 inch OLED panel. This screen outputs a sharp resolution of 2772x1280 pixels and supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It can hit a peak brightness of 3200 nits in outdoor conditions. Eyestrain protection features are also present, including DC Dimming and a high frequency PWM rate of 3840 Hz. The display also supports HDR10+ for rich color depth.
Power comes from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor. Buyers can choose between 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM depending on their performance needs. Storage configurations include 128GB and 256GB using standard UFS 2.2 speeds, or a spacious 512GB using faster UFS 3.1 speeds. The hardware manages to keep daily applications running without lag.
Engineers managed to fit a massive 9000 mAh battery inside a body that measures only 8.46 millimeters thick. The device supports 67W fast charging to get users back to full power quickly. Redmi is also offering an unusual warranty promise for the Chinese market. The company will replace the battery for free if the maximum capacity drops below 80% of its original limit within 4 years of purchase. This shows immense confidence in their engineering.
Dust and water protection is another major selling point for this model. The phone holds certifications for IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. It can withstand heavy rain, deep water submersion, and even high pressure hot water jets. For photos, the back features a 50 megapixel main camera with an accompanying depth sensor, while the front has an 8 megapixel selfie camera. Extra features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an infrared port, and an under display fingerprint scanner.
The pricing structure is highly competitive. The entry level model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage starts at $235. Upgrading to the 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage version costs $280. The 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage option is priced at $324, while the top tier 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage model reaches $339. These prices make the phone a formidable player in the budget market.
