Audi A2 e tron Set to Become Brand's Most Efficient EV

Audi has revealed new details about its upcoming compact electric car, the A2 e tron. The vehicle pairs an aerodynamic design with a highly efficient powertrain to deliver the lowest energy consumption in company history. It is expected to debut this autumn with prices starting at around €38,200 in Germany.

According to official company communications, the version running on a 140 kW electric motor uses just 12.8 kWh per 100 kilometers. This efficiency allows the compact hatchback to travel up to 649 kilometers on a single charge. Much of this capability comes down to the body design, which achieves a low drag coefficient of 0.24 to cut through the air with minimal resistance. Active shutters in the front grille open only when the battery pack needs cooling, further reducing drag during normal driving.

Under the cabin floor sits a 61 kWh LFP accumulator that uses Cell to Pack technology. This design skips internal modules to pack the energy cells tighter, saving physical space for passenger legroom inside the car. Bidirectional charging is also supported, meaning owners can use the vehicle as a mobile power source to run household appliances during an outage or power tools on the go.

Audi plans to offer 4 power configurations for this model. Buyers can select from motors producing 125, 140, 170, or 240 kW. Several battery capacities will also be available depending on the chosen configuration. The automaker expects this lineup to make electric mobility far more accessible to city drivers who do not want to compromise on range.
