Bose has introduced the 2nd Gen QuietComfort Headphones with premium features previously reserved for the flagship Ultra model. The wireless over ear headphones feature improved active noise cancellation, spatial audio, and lossless USB Type C audio playback. Pre orders start in 2 days with retail sales launching next week for 359 dollars.
The hardware weighs 230 grams and features physical changes. Bose redesigned the ear cups into a more oval shape and added a revised headband with soft synthetic leather ear pads. According to the official Bose product release, the active noise cancellation system uses 6 microphones to block outside noise. The dampening adjusts fast. A system called ActiveSense automatically modifies the sound isolation to handle sudden loud noises, which helps when wearing glasses.
Bose brought its premium spatial audio technology down to this cheaper model. The feature includes a Cinema Mode that widens the soundstage and makes movie dialogue easier to hear. Another setting called Motion Mode keeps the audio source anchored in front of you while you walk. Listen wired. Users can also play high resolution lossless audio up to 24 bit and 48 kHz over a USB Type C cable while charging the battery.
Wireless connectivity runs on Bluetooth 5.4 with support for multi device pairing and Google Fast Pair. The battery lasts up to 24 hours on a single charge. Getting the cell back to 100% takes about 3 hours. Charging is quick. Plug the headphones in for just 15 minutes and you get 2.5 hours of playback. The headphones will hit store shelves soon in multiple colors.
