Fosi Audio has launched the Carbon 12, a new pair of in ear monitors claiming to be the first to feature ultra thin pure carbon fiber diaphragms. The earphones combine a TC4 titanium alloy body with forged carbon fiber faceplates and a specialized acoustic chamber design. They are currently available in China priced at 999 yuan.
The centerpiece of the Carbon 12 is a 12mm pure carbon fiber driver made with Ultra Thin Ply Technology. Fosi Audio developed this driver to maximize stiffness while keeping moving mass low. The internal shell uses a dual chamber acoustic layout that pairs an open front cavity with a diffuse rear cavity. This arrangement produces internal acoustic damping, shaping the frequency response to deliver a warm overall tone with pronounced vocal clarity.
Durability is handled by the solid TC4 titanium alloy housings, which keep the weight down to 7.5 grams per earbud. The forged carbon faceplates give each unit a distinct visual texture while reinforcing the outer shell. The construction is designed to resist physical wear during daily use without putting excess weight on the ear.
Technical benchmarks reported by IT Home show a frequency response spanning 20 to 40000 Hz, making the monitors suitable for high resolution audio playback. Impedance is rated at 37 ohms with a sensitivity of 108dB per Vrms at 1kHz. Total harmonic distortion remains under 0.5%, ensuring clean audio delivery across standard portable DACs and mobile audio players.
