Huawei Launches Lightweight MateBook Pro with Kirin Processor

Huawei has introduced an updated MateBook Pro that weighs only 970 grams. The ultraportable laptop runs the proprietary HarmonyOS 6.1 and swaps Intel silicon for a more powerful Kirin processor. Pre orders have opened in China with a starting price equivalent to roughly 1500 US dollars.

The notebook is built around a 14.2 inch OLED touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio. It outputs a 3120x2080 resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 1000 nits. This hardware is packed into a shell measuring just 13.5 millimeters thick. A 70Wh battery powers the system for up to 10.2 hours of use. It supports 140W fast charging alongside 66W reverse charging to power your phone or accessories on the go.

Under the hood sits the new Kirin X90 Plus processor. To keep thermal throttling away, Huawei designed an upgraded cooling system utilizing a vapor chamber made of a copper foam mixture. This thermal setup allows the chip to sustain 40W of power smoothly. Physical connectivity remains compact but useful. You get 3 USB Type C ports, including 1 that supports DisplayPort 1.2 output. This selection means you can leave standard adapters behind.

Smart software features are a major focus for this release. The keyboard deck features a dedicated AI button to call up the virtual assistant, which relies on Huawei Pangu and DeepSeek models. Users can also navigate using hand gestures or eye tracking. For security, StarFlash technology allows you to locate the notebook even when the machine is turned off completely.

While local sales begin in China next week, Huawei has not shared plans for a wider global release. The base model with 24GB of memory and 512GB of storage costs about 1481 US dollars. Power users can upgrade to the top tier model with 32GB of memory and a 1TB solid state drive for approximately 2074 US dollars.
