NVIDIA Unveils DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and RTX Mega Geometry

NVIDIA has introduced DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction to upgrade graphical fidelity across ray traced PC titles. The new neural rendering framework replaces conventional hand tuned denoisers with an AI transformer model designed to produce clearer, more stable pixels. Upcoming releases like Gears of War E Day and CONTROL Resonant will lead the technological rollout throughout the autumn release window.

Ray tracing often produces visual noise in complex scenes where light samples are scarce. The DLSS 4.5 update tackles this through a 2nd generation transformer model running directly on GeForce RTX hardware. The upgraded architecture provides 35% more compute capability and evaluates 20% more parameters without lowering frame rates. The difference is immediately visible. In Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the denoiser removes particle ghosting around snow, while in PRAGMATA it eliminates lingering artifacts from moving lasers. In Alan Wake 2, static CRT monitor displays retain clear, stable horizontal scan lines.

Gamers can access this technology through an early update in the NVIDIA app for 30 supported titles, provided they run GeForce Game Ready Driver 580.88 or newer. The application allows users to override older denoiser models globally or customize settings per game using Preset F. Beyond the driver level override, game studios are preparing native title updates to integrate the model directly into their production pipelines.

Unreal Engine 5 uses a virtualized geometry system called Nanite to render dense environments filled with millions of polygons. Until now, ray tracing in Unreal Engine 5 was forced to fall back on low detail fallback meshes because calculating ray structures for full Nanite geometry was too demanding for existing graphics interfaces. This shortcut frequently resulted in missing shadows, low resolution reflections, and noticeable geometric pop in on screen.

NVIDIA engineers spent 6 years developing RTX Mega Geometry to fix this exact bottleneck. The Coalition will debut the technology in Gears of War E Day, allowing every tiny rock, vehicle spoke, and piece of foliage to cast full detail ray traced shadows and reflections. Microsoft plans to adopt this method into the official DirectX Raytracing 2.0 standard, establishing a unified foundation for all future Unreal Engine 5 projects. Players without high end local hardware will also be able to stream the game with full RTX Mega Geometry via GeForce NOW using RTX 5080 class cloud servers.

Remedy Entertainment showcased new path traced gameplay for CONTROL Resonant, which features Dylan Faden in a devastated Manhattan. The sequel incorporates DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction alongside Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and select GeForce RTX 50 series desktop and laptop purchases will include a copy of the game. IO Interactive also confirmed that 007 First Light will receive a major graphics patch adding full path tracing to its international spy campaign.

Several other studios confirmed support across diverse game genres. In the creature collecting RPG Aniimo, Pawprint Studios will pair DLSS 4.5 with NVIDIA ACE, running a locally hosted Nemotron Small Language Model on the user GPU so players can talk directly to creatures using natural voice commands. Tactical shooters like Fragmentary Order, Beautiful Light, and CINDER CITY are incorporating ray tracing alongside DLSS 4.5 to stabilize frame pacing. Open world titles including ANANTA, Silver Palace, Black State, and the Western release of the MMO AION 2 will also launch with DLSS 4.5 support, expanding the roster of enhanced PC gaming experiences to well over 1000 titles.
