SilverStone ECS07 Adapter Converts M.2 Slots into 5 SATA Ports

SilverStone has officially listed the ECS07 expansion adapter on its website. The compact card converts a single M.2 2280 storage slot into 5 SATA III ports without occupying a standard PCIe slot on your motherboard. But users planning to build a storage array should keep in mind that the card does not support hardware RAID.

The adapter runs on the JMicron JMB585 controller. It plugs directly into an M.2 2280 M Key slot using a PCIe Gen3 x2 connection. For drive connectivity, it provides 5 separate SATA 6Gbps ports that follow the SATA 3.2 standard. To keep temperatures manageable during heavy file transfers, SilverStone equipped the unit with an aluminum alloy top heatsink and an aluminum baseplate.

Installing the unit is simple because it works as a plug and play card that requires zero driver setup. It includes automatic drive detection and supports live hot swapping for quick drive changes. Operating system support includes Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux distributions such as Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.
