Acer has launched a high performance configuration of its Predator Helios 18 gaming laptop on retail platforms. Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU, the machine packs 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The 18 inch desktop replacement is currently listed in China for 29,999 yuan.
The laptop is built around an 18 inch Mini LED screen running at a 2560x1600 resolution with a 250Hz refresh rate. It reaches up to 1000 nits of peak brightness and covers 100% of the DCI P3 color space. High refresh rates and color accuracy make it suitable for competitive games and creative video work alike.
Cooling this level of hardware requires serious engineering. Acer installed a thermal system combining liquid metal paste, 6 heat pipes, and dual metal fans. Together, the internal cooling setup can dissipate up to 270W of total heat during long gaming sessions. This keeps both the CPU and GPU running at full speed without thermal throttling.
Memory comes standard at 32GB of RAM, and the motherboard slots support manual overclocking for extra speed. Storage starts with a 1TB solid state drive, but users get 2 PCIe Gen5 M.2 slots for storage expansion later. A 99.98Wh battery sits inside, which matches the legal limit for airline travel. Audio is handled by an array of 6 built in speakers and 3 microphones for voice chat.
Acer included plenty of ports for external accessories. You get 2 Thunderbolt 5 ports for high speed data transfers alongside a 5GbE wired network jack. Wireless connections run on Wi Fi 7 for low latency gaming over local networks.
RGB lighting covers several distinct zones across the chassis. An illuminated Predator logo sits on the top lid, matched by an extra logo and a meteor light line on the keyboard deck. The sides feature an L shaped wrap around light strip, and the rear exhaust vents show off a wide galaxy style lighting bar.
