Anbernic has launched the RG DS Plus, a dual screen clamshell handheld built specifically for retro emulation. The device runs on a Rockchip RK3568 processor and features 2 separate 4.3 inch IPS displays with exact 4x integer scaling for classic vintage games. The new handheld is currently available for 94.99 USD.
The dual screen configuration is the primary selling point here. Each 4.3 inch IPS panel operates at a resolution of 1024x768 pixels, providing a sharp picture that scales original handheld titles cleanly without blurry distortion. Anbernic also integrated a custom dual screen emulator interface to manage both panels seamlessly. A capacitive stylus slides directly into the lower part of the body for storage, making touch controls intuitive for titles that require a pen.
The clamshell housing utilizes a stepless dual alloy hinge that holds the upper screen securely at multiple angles between 15 and 180 degrees. Closing the lid triggers an automatic sleep mode to preserve power between sessions. Buyers can pick up the unit in Matte Black, Coral Pink, and Metallic Blue color options.
Internal computing is handled by the quad core Rockchip RK3568 chipset running at clock speeds up to 2.0 GHz. Physical inputs include a traditional directional pad, standard ABXY face buttons, and a single analog joystick for 3D titles. A 4000mAh battery powers the hardware for extended portable gaming sessions, while built in stereo speakers provide clear external audio playback without requiring headphones.
