Audi has brought back the A2 badge as an electric vehicle focused on maximum efficiency and entry level luxury pricing. The new Audi A2 e tron delivers energy consumption of 12.8 kWh per 100 kilometers and a maximum driving range of up to 646 kilometers on a single charge. The compact electric hatchback starts at €38,200 in European markets.
The car marks the return of the iconic nameplate after more than 25 years off the market. Audi engineers prioritized wind resistance reduction, securing a drag coefficient of 0.24 to keep energy draw remarkably low. Buyers can select between 4 different power outputs rated at 125 kW, 140 kW, 170 kW, and 240 kW. Energy is stored in 1 of 3 battery pack options measuring 52 kWh, 61 kWh, or 84 kWh. The mid spec 140 kW model delivers the headline 646 kilometer WLTP range figure.
Charging performance varies across the battery configurations. The flagship 84 kWh pack accepts direct current rapid charging at rates up to 183 kW, replenishing from 10 to 80% capacity in 29 minutes. The 61 kWh pack takes up to 105 kW to finish the same charging cycle in 25 minutes, while the entry 52 kWh unit caps out at 100 kW and completes the cycle in 14 minutes. Audi also baked in bidirectional charging with vehicle to load support, letting owners power external appliances directly from the car battery.
The physical footprint measures 4.32 meters long and 1.79 meters wide with a 2.77 meter wheelbase. That puts it in direct competition with the Kia EV3 and the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo. Standard safety equipment includes autonomous emergency braking, swerve assistance, driver attention monitoring, adaptive cruise control, Parking System Plus, and a rear view camera. Inside the cabin, Audi added a Fidlock magnetic mounting system alongside an optional 1.6 square meter panoramic glass roof.
Entry level pricing starts at €38,200 for the 125 kW motor and 52 kWh battery pairing. Upgrading to the 61 kWh battery brings the base price to €41,900. Drivers wanting the larger 84 kWh pack with the 170 kW motor will pay €48,900, while the range topping 240 kW performance variant starts at €51,200.
