Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, the first fully electric vehicle in the history of the British luxury automaker. The car combines an 800 volt dual motor platform with a 113 kWh battery pack delivering up to 888 horsepower. Prices for the 4th core model line start at 173,000 British pounds.
Buyers get 2 performance tiers to choose from. The entry model delivers 821 horsepower alongside 1194 Nm of torque, pushing the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. The Torcal S pushes output to 888 horsepower and 1350 Nm of torque. That drops the sprint time to 2.8 seconds. Flat out speed is backed by a 600 kilometer road range calculated under the WLTP test cycle.
Charging speeds are remarkably quick. The electrical system handles DC fast charging at up to 400 kW. That lets you refill the battery from 10 to 80% in 16 minutes. Plugging in for just 7 minutes recovers roughly 100 kilometers of range. This fast throughput makes long distance touring far more practical.
the car uses active suspension combined with all wheel steering to improve agility on tight roads. Inside the cabin, drivers view curved OLED panels and an augmented reality head up display. Traditional craftsmanship still matters here. The seats are wrapped in fine merino wool, complemented by solid walnut wood veneers across the doors and center console.
Electric motors are virtually silent, but Bentley found a creative workaround. To replace the traditional rumble of its classic 6.75 liter V8 combustion engine, the engineering team hired studio musicians. Real players recorded tracks with drums, viola, and bass guitars to compose a synthetic soundtrack. The synthesized tone shifts in real time depending on acceleration and torque load. If you prefer total silence, you can shut the audio off with a quick toggle.
Assembly will take place at the historic factory in Crewe, England, where the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga are built. Base pricing kicks off at 173,000 British pounds, which converts to roughly $230,000 in American currency. Customer deliveries will position the vehicle directly against high luxury electric sedans currently dominating the executive market.
