A massive new rugged phone has surfaced for outdoor enthusiasts. Unveiled at IFA, the Blackview Xplore 6 features a secondary rear display, a 12000mAh battery, and support for an attachable 10x telephoto lens. The heavy duty device is set to launch overseas later this month starting at 950 euros.
The Xplore 6 is intentionally thick and heavy. It measures 18.2 millimeters in depth, spans 179.5 by 85.4 millimeters across, and weighs a hefty 428 grams. Up front, you get a 6.73 inch AMOLED panel pushing a sharp 3200 by 1440 resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. Around the back, Blackview added a 1.47 inch secondary screen with 368 by 194 resolution. This rear display shows the time, manages music playback, and works as a mirror viewfinder for selfies with the main cameras.
Durability is the main focus of the chassis design. The phone carries IP68 and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance alongside military certification under MIL STD 810H. Blackview claims the frame can survive drops onto hard surfaces from up to 2 meters without taking critical damage.
Camera hardware is usually an afterthought on outdoor phones, but Blackview took a different path. The rear setup features 3 cameras led by a 50 megapixel OmniVision OV50H primary sensor with optical image stabilization and a 1 over 1.3 inch optical format. The front camera also uses a 50 megapixel sensor for crisp video calls.
The standout feature is support for an external 10x optical zoom extender lens. This hardware attachment provides an equivalent 230 millimeter focal length. When combined with digital magnification, the system reaches an equivalent focal length of 1600 millimeters to capture distant wildlife or trail markers.
Under the hood, the device runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus processor. Buyers can configure the phone with up to 18GB of RAM and choose between 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. Powering this hardware is a massive 12000mAh battery that easily outlasts standard commercial phones. When power runs low, the phone accepts 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.
On the software front, the Xplore 6 ships with Android 16 right out of the box. Blackview has committed to delivering 3 years of major operating system upgrades. The phone arrives in global markets before the end of the month with an entry retail price of 950 euros.
