BYD has introduced the fully electric Denza N8L SUV alongside a new Formula S electric vehicle family in China. Both product lines feature rapid charging batteries that go from 10% to 97% in only 9 minutes while offering driving ranges over 900 kilometers. The releases mark a heavy push into premium segments to challenge competitors like Tesla and Xiaomi.
Denza N8L Electric SUV Specifications and Cabin Technology
The Denza N8L shifts away from its previous hybrid only identity by introducing a pure electric powertrain with 6 seats arranged in a 2 plus 2 plus 2 configuration. Power comes from a 130.15 kWh Blade Battery 2.0 pack that delivers up to 960 kilometers of driving range on the CLTC testing cycle. Its 800 volt electrical architecture allows the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes, reaching 97% in 9 minutes. The body measures 5200 mm long, 1999 mm wide, and 1820 mm tall with a wheelbase of 3075 mm. Ride comfort is managed by a Disus A body control setup with dual chamber air springs.
The passenger cabin is packed with tech. Riders get 6 separate screens including a digital instrument cluster, a center console display, a dedicated front passenger monitor, 2 rear entertainment screens, and a ceiling folding display. An augmented reality heads up display projects navigation data directly onto the windshield. Interior materials include leather upholstery, wood panels, a suede roof liner, and a Devialet premium sound system. Software runs on the Smart Travel Ecosystem with an artificial intelligence assistant capable of connecting to compatible smart home appliances. Driving safety is handled by the Gods Eye 5.0 system for highway autopilot and remote parking. In China the Premium model costs 299800 yuan, roughly $45000, while the Flagship model sells for 329800 yuan, roughly $49000.
Fang Cheng Bao Formula S and Formula S GT Details
BYD also expanded its Fang Cheng Bao brand by launching the Formula S sedan and the high performance Formula S GT. The series directly targets electric sedans like the Tesla Model 3 and Xiaomi SU7. The standard sedan measures 5060 mm in length with a 2960 mm wheelbase, making it slightly larger than a Model 3. Buyers can choose between 3 sedan versions and 2 GT trims.
The Formula S GT comes in rear wheel drive and all wheel drive configurations, providing maximum driving ranges of 850 kilometers and 730 kilometers. Like the Denza, the cars use Blade Battery hardware with Flash Charging that takes the battery from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and up to 97% in 9 minutes. The cabin features sports seating, a zero gravity front passenger chair, a 26 inch augmented reality display, 128 color ambient lighting, and a 6.9 liter integrated refrigerator. Chassis control uses either DiSus A or DiSus M technology, with automated highway cruising and smart parking guided by the Gods Eye B system. Pricing starts at 189900 yuan, or about $28300, for the base rear wheel drive sedan. The extended 900 kilometer range model costs 209900 yuan, around $31000, while the all wheel drive version is priced at 229900 yuan, or roughly $34000.
