Fujifilm has introduced the Instax Pal 2 miniature digital camera alongside the Instax Link Wide 2 portable printer. Both devices combine vintage analog styling with wireless features for rapid photo printing and quick sharing to social platforms. However, the company is releasing them in Japan first before confirming pricing and international rollout plans.
Instax Pal 2 Camera Specifications and Features
The Instax Pal 2 camera weighs just 87 grams and borrows design elements from classic film hardware, including a physical shutter button and a control dial. Inside the tiny body sits a 10 MP CMOS sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, face recognition autofocus, and a 256 zone auto exposure system. The automatic shutter operates between 1/4 and 1/8000 of a second, while sensitivity covers ISO 100 to 1600. Users can also manually adjust exposure from negative 2 EV to plus 2 EV in 1/3 EV steps.
Storage is handled by a microSD card slot that accepts cards up to 2 TB. The built in battery provides up to 3 hours of continuous shooting. A small 1.3 inch LCD screen helps with framing basic shots. Through the companion smartphone app, users can apply up to 30 retro filters and format pictures for Square, Mini, or Wide instant film sizes before sending them to a printer.
Instax Link Wide 2 Wireless Mobile Printer
Fujifilm also introduced the Instax Link Wide 2 pocket printer, designed to print 108 by 86 millimeter photo cards. The unit connects via Bluetooth directly to smartphones or the Pal 2 camera. It uses an internal OLED system to expose images onto proprietary instant photo paper at a crisp 318 dpi resolution. Developing a physical print takes roughly 90 seconds from start to finish.
The mobile app gives users tools to crop shots, insert custom text, and assemble collages prior to printing. The entire printer weighs 357 grams. On a full charge, the internal battery can produce up to 100 instant photos. Retail sales begin next month in Japan, while global availability details are scheduled for a later announcement.
