Gothic II Launches on Xbox and PlayStation with Enhanced Voice Acting

Classic role playing game Gothic II is now available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The release bundles the core game with the Night of the Raven expansion alongside updated audio tracks for $30. It marks the second step in publisher THQ Nordic bringing the beloved fantasy trilogy to modern television screens.

The console edition includes a refreshed version of the classic Russian voiceover produced by Akella. Sound technicians cleaned the original recordings to remove background hiss and cut out accidental duplicate takes left in the legacy files. Voice actors Pyotr Glants and Fyodor Sukhov also returned to the recording booth for new sessions to fix translation mistakes and complete previously unrecorded dialogue.

Hardware support covers both current and older console systems. The game runs natively on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles while remaining fully playable on PS4 and Xbox One. Combat controls and inventory management have been adjusted to work naturally with modern gamepads.

This launch continues a steady rollout for the franchise on home consoles. The original Gothic landed on PlayStation and Xbox storefronts earlier this summer to test player interest in the retro series. THQ Nordic plans to complete the entire collection later this autumn when Gothic 3 makes its official debut on modern consoles.
