Huawei has partnered with DJI to release a customized edition of the Osmo Pocket 4 handheld gimbal camera. The new hardware features prominent Huawei branding alongside exclusive software integrations designed for Huawei smartphones. Units are now arriving at physical retail stores across China.
This release marks a rare direct hardware collaboration between the 2 Chinese tech giants. Promotional material shows the camera body stamped with the official Huawei logo. Bruce Lee, Chief Technology Officer of the Huawei Device Business Group, confirmed the partnership through a public post detailing the software advantages of the edition.
While specific technical documentation on these features remains unreleased, the modifications focus heavily on ecosystem connectivity. Industry watchers expect immediate pairing, native remote camera control, and direct media transfers with HarmonyOS devices. This integration aims to turn the standalone pocket gimbal into a seamless external camera for mobile content creators.
Underneath the custom branding, the camera retains the core technical foundation of the standard Osmo Pocket 4. The imaging system centers on an upgraded 1 inch CMOS sensor capable of capturing 14 stops of dynamic range. Color grading options include professional 10 bit D Log recording for creators who need flexibility during video editing. The standard edition base pricing started at 2999 yuan.
Tracking capabilities also received major software updates through the smart tracking 7.0 system. The gimbal can track moving subjects at up to 4x the distance compared to older models. The internal focus system introduces dedicated modes to lock onto main subjects and prioritize registered faces in busy environments. Creators can also operate the camera without touching the glass display by using simple hand gestures to start tracking or trigger video recording.
