PlayStation 5 emulation on PC has reached a major milestone with the KyTy project. The software developers managed to boot the Demon's Souls remake and run through the opening area at 10 to 30 frames per second. However, heavy stuttering means the title is still far from playable for regular gamers.
The milestone was showcased in video footage demonstrating KyTy version 0.3. While older console emulators historically required a decade of work before booting retail software, modern developers are moving much faster. In the demonstration, the player moves across the starting castle grounds with brief moments of fluid rendering. Performance fluctuates heavily between 10 and 30 fps. Frequent stutters and visual glitches currently prevent any normal combat progression.
The KyTy development team confirmed that build 0.3 is not ready for public release. The current code remains restricted to internal testing. Programmers are still working to resolve core memory leaks and graphic translation errors before sharing files with the community. Even with the unstable framerate, getting a modern retail exclusive to boot on a standard computer shows how quickly PlayStation 5 emulation is moving forward.
