The new silicon leaves the core architecture alone while upgrading memory compatibility from 4266Mbps LPDDR4X to 5500Mbps LPDDR5X. This subtle adjustment helps budget phone makers manage rising memory prices without redesigning their circuit boards.
The Helio family serves price sensitive markets where profit margins are thin. In recent months, major memory makers have redirected production capacity toward advanced standards like HBM and DDR5. As chip factories shut down older equipment, supplies of legacy LPDDR4X chips have dropped quickly. The resulting shortage pushed prices up. It created an immediate problem for companies building low cost hardware.
Offering LPDDR5X support gives phone brands a simple way to dodge those rising costs. Smartphone builders can now buy modern, widely available LPDDR5X chips running at 5500Mbps whenever older memory becomes too expensive.
