SNK and Plaion have delayed the anticipated launch of the NeoGeo AES plus replica console by 10 months. The modernized system aims to offer complete compatibility with original game cartridges alongside perks like 1080p low latency HDMI output and hardware overclocking switches. But according to a joint statement reported by VGC, global component shortages forced the publishers to postpone the release to ensure adequate inventory for buyers.
Manufacturing bottlenecks made a full global rollout impossible under the original timeline. Rather than shipping a limited run that would leave most buyers empty handed, the companies decided to pause distribution until supply chains stabilize.
Rather than launching with severe inventory constraints, we decided to use this additional time to expand production capacity, secure required components, and invest more resources into the long term future of the platform.
Preorders remain completely secure. Customers will not face price increases, and existing order queues will keep their initial priority status automatically. Every unit in the first shipment will also arrive with a special founding supporter reward to thank players for their patience.
The hardware revisits the legendary 1990 home arcade platform with a strong focus on authenticity. Both the standard model and the 35th anniversary edition carry a price of 179.99 British pounds. Individual game cartridges will sell for 69.99 British pounds.
The console pairs original cartridge playback with modern video hardware. Players get 1080p output through HDMI, an on screen BIOS interface, and physical DIP switches located on the base of the machine. These switches allow players to toggle display filters, swap system languages, or overclock the internal hardware without opening system menus.
