VinFast has revealed the production ready VF Wild, a midsize electric pickup featuring a range extender powertrain that delivers over 1000 km of driving distance. First shown as a concept vehicle in 2024, the truck relies on an electric motor while using a 1.5 liter gasoline engine to keep the battery charged on the move. Deliveries have started in Vietnam with a starting price close to $33,000.
Powering the truck is a single electric motor producing 160 kW, which translates to roughly 215 hp, and 280 Nm of torque. It pulls electricity from a 46.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. That pack delivers about 250 km of pure electric driving on the NEDC testing cycle before the combustion system kicks in. Once battery reserves drop, the 1.5 liter engine fires up purely to generate electricity for the battery pack. The gas engine never directly drives the wheels. That setup eliminates charging anxiety for drivers traveling through areas without dedicated charging stations.
The physical footprint puts the VF Wild right in the middle of the global midsize pickup category. The body spans 5376 mm in length, 2069 mm in width, and 1873 mm in height, resting on a 3258 mm wheelbase. VinFast engineered the chassis with an emphasis on rough terrain capability, giving it the ground clearance and stance needed for trails.
Inside the cabin, VinFast chose a clean, stripped down layout. Drivers interact with a central 10 inch touchscreen display that handles all multimedia and driving data, replacing the traditional gauge cluster behind the steering wheel. The floor is completely flat throughout the interior, and the rear seats fold and recline to maximize cargo flexibility. In Vietnam, pricing begins at 860,000,000 Vietnamese dong, converting to around $33,000.
