Xiaomi Skynomad N90 Max Explorer Edition Adds Built In Pop Up Roof

Xiaomi has expanded its automotive lineup with the Skynomad N90 Max Explorer Edition, a large hybrid SUV built for luxury camping. The vehicle integrates an electric pop up roof with a heated cabin floor and an extended range hybrid powertrain delivering up to 1688 km of total travel. Pre orders are open now with customer deliveries scheduled to begin before the end of the year.

Instead of requiring owners to bolt on an aftermarket tent, the vehicle features an electric retractable roof integrated directly into the body. When lowered, the module adds only 100 mm to the total vehicle height and preserves a low aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.245. Raising the roof creates a 2 level interior with a maximum ceiling height of 2.29 meters. The upper living deck covers roughly 2 square meters, supports up to 200 kg, and includes its own climate control vents, interior lighting, and device charging ports.

While the base model comes with 7 seats, the Explorer Edition trades passenger count for camping utility by offering 5 seats. The second row folds down electrically to create a flat sleeping surface measuring 1.87 by 1.24 meters. To keep campers warm in cold weather, the wood textured aluminum floor can heat up to 38 °C.

Both versions of the SUV share an extended range hybrid system. Power comes from an all wheel drive setup with 2 electric motors producing 310 kW, a 76 kWh ternary lithium ion battery, and a 60 liter fuel tank. The standard model delivers 464 km of pure electric driving and 1705 km of total combined range under CLTC standards. The heavier Explorer Edition still achieves 1688 km of combined range. Both variants accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in 5.9 seconds and ride on an air suspension system with continuously variable dampers.

The digital interior runs on Xiaomi HyperOS and supports up to 6 displays, including a head up display, a center infotainment screen, and rear entertainment panels. Cabin amenities include a 9 liter compressor refrigerator and a sound system featuring 25 speakers. Driver assistance relies on an array of sensors anchored by both front and rear LiDAR units.

Pre orders are currently live, with initial deliveries planned between November and December. Buyers can select from 7 exterior colors, including burgundy, green, blue, gray, khaki, white, and black.
