AAEON has launched the UP Xtreme PTL Edge Air, a compact mini PC powered by Intel Series 3 Panther Lake processors and cooled by Frore Systems AirJet tech. Ditching traditional fans allows the 35.8 millimeter chassis to shed 43% of its weight compared to standard units. However, this solid state cooling approach draws 6% more power and narrows the overall operating temperature window.
Instead of spinning fans, the chassis relies on solid state ultrasonic membranes from Frore Systems to push heat out of the system. This design makes the machine 35% thinner than its standard sibling while eliminating all motor vibration. Total acoustic output remains under 21 decibels during operation. Because it measures only 35.8 millimeters thick, the system fits easily into cramped spaces like thin service kiosks, automated mobile robots, and mobile medical carts.
Buyers can configure the unit with an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, Ultra 7 356, or Ultra 5 325 processor. The trade off for such a slim profile is thermal headroom. The supported operating range spans from minus 10 to 45 degrees Celsius, which is narrower than standard industrial hardware. Power consumption also climbs by 6% compared to the standard fanned model.
AAEON packed plenty of connectivity into the small enclosure. Storage expansion includes 2 M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe slots alongside a dedicated bay for a wireless network card. For external hardware, the box provides 2 USB C 40Gbps connections, 2 2.5GbE RJ45 ethernet ports, 2 COM serial ports, and a 40 Pin GPIO header for custom industrial equipment.
