Along with 90 Pro Max, HUAWEI has expanded its flagship lineup with the launch of the Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro. Both phones share a 6.75 inch display and a 6600 mAh battery, but the Pro model steps ahead with hardware ray tracing and upgraded camera sensors. The new series is available now in China starting at $840 for the standard edition and $980 for the Pro variant.

HUAWEI differentiates the 2 handsets through internal chip choices and charging speeds. The standard Mate 90 operates on the Kirin 9030 processor, paired with 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The Mate 90 Pro upgrades to the Kirin 9035 silicon, which incorporates dedicated hardware ray tracing capable of rendering up to 31,000,000 light rays per second during gaming. The Pro model also increases wired charging speeds to 100W while retaining 50W wireless speeds and adding Smart HDR processing.

Both models feature proprietary RYYB sensor layouts supported by 3rd generation Red Maple color modules for improved color accuracy. The standard Mate 90 uses a 50 MP main sensor measuring 1/1.56 inch with an adjustable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to 4.0. It works alongside a 40 MP ultrawide lens and a 50 MP optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization. The Mate 90 Pro improves on this setup by moving to a larger 1/1.28 inch 50 MP main sensor with the same variable aperture. It also adds a 50 MP telephoto lens with macro shooting capabilities and optical image stabilization, along with a 40 MP ultrawide camera.
