Krafton has officially cancelled the development of PUBG Black Budget, shelving the tactical extraction shooter before its full public release. The project held a spot in the top 30 most wishlisted upcoming games on Steam and completed 2 closed alpha tests. But internal evaluations concluded that the core gameplay loop could not sustain long term player engagement.
In an official announcement, Krafton and PUBG Studios confirmed the decision to halt all production. Studio leadership stated that after reviewing player data and feedback from the testing rounds, they realized the current creative direction would not produce a game capable of holding interest over extended periods. The team thanked alpha participants for their testing feedback and confirmed that the technical experience gained during production will be applied to future internal projects.
The title was being built as a tactical PvPvE extraction experience centered around 30 minute raids. Planned gameplay mechanics included 3 warring factions, base construction, item crafting, and character progression systems. Matches were intended to feature shifting environments, map anomalies, and time loop mechanics that changed combat conditions during a session. These design concepts have now been completely retired with the cancellation of the project.
