NVIDIA Releases GeForce Security Update 582.78 for Legacy Architectures

NVIDIA has issued a massive security driver update for older graphics cards running on Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta architectures. The version 582.78 release addresses 114 security vulnerabilities across display drivers and virtual GPU software without introducing new gaming optimizations. This package targets legacy hardware across Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.

While NVIDIA no longer delivers regular Game Ready performance drivers for legacy hardware, the company continues to provide critical security maintenance. The version 582.78 package weighs in at 912.74 MB and patches 114 specific vulnerabilities. Among these security issues, 76 are classified as high risk while 37 are ranked as medium risk. Most of the identified flaws directly affected the core display driver and virtual GPU environments, making this update an essential installation for systems still utilizing older graphics silicon.

The security patch applies to a wide range of desktop cards, including the GeForce GTX 745, GTX 750, and GTX 750 Ti. Owners of the GTX 900 series, covering models from the GTX 950 through the GTX 980 Ti, can install the package alongside mainstream Pascal options ranging from the GT 1010 and GT 1030 up to the GTX 1080 Ti. Professional workstations and compute accelerators are also supported, including the Tesla V100, TITAN V, TITAN Xp, TITAN X, and the older GeForce GTX TITAN X.
