Fresh rumors claiming Capcom has started development on Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 remakes recently gained traction online. However, well known series insider Dusk Golem has stepped in to shoot down the speculation as false. According to his sources within the studio, players will not see either title hit shelves for at least 5 years.
Capcom has built massive momentum by reimagining classic entries in its survival horror franchise. Because of that success, speculation about the next games in line spreads quickly across social media. When a viral post claimed both fifth and sixth entries were actively being remade, Dusk Golem addressed the community directly on X to clarify the development pipeline.
According to the insider, Capcom approved multiple projects for the horror franchise recently, but neither of the action heavy entries was among them. Every internal development team at the publisher is currently assigned to other active productions. The insider noted that unless a major title was secretly scrapped and swapped out within the last 6 months, work on these specific remakes is simply not happening.
I promise you there is not an RE5 or RE6 Remake releasing in the next 5 years at least.
Dusk Golem explained that social media accounts frequently push fake rumors about these games because remakes for them feel like an eventual certainty. While an updated version of Resident Evil 5 will likely happen at some point in the future, Capcom is directing its current resources toward unannounced original entries and other priorities. Fans expecting a quick follow up to earlier remakes will have to remain patient while the studio works through its current roadmap.
