Samsung Galaxy Buds On Debut with Clip On Open Ear Architecture

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Buds On, representing the first clip on open ear audio wearable in the Galaxy lineup. The earbuds grip the outer ear to blend audio playback with ambient environmental noise, driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 sound platform. The hardware launches initially in South Korea priced at 299,000 won (roughly $220), with wider global distribution planned for a later rollout.

Samsung engineered the chassis with a wider contact surface to distribute pressure across different ear shapes and prevent slipping during movement. The open layout keeps the ear canal unobstructed so listeners remain aware of their surroundings during music playback and voice calls. Audio controls and call management are handled through touch inputs placed along the rear portion of the housing. Head motion detection also lets users nod or shake their head to answer calls, silence alarms, or trigger notification readouts.

The acoustic system pairs custom TwinBoost drivers for low frequency response with a Class D amplifier running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 platform. An automated volume control system adjusts loudness levels to match changing ambient conditions, while an audio leakage reduction feature minimizes sound spill to nearby people. Internal power delivers up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge.

Voice capture relies on 3 microphones working alongside a bone conduction voice pickup unit. The Intelligent Clear Call system feeds this sensor data through machine learning algorithms to isolate speech from background noise. When connected to Galaxy mobile devices, the earbuds support direct voice activation for Gemini Live and quick note creation through Quick Voice Memo with a long press. Stored voice memos can later be searched using Bixby voice queries.

Initial availability is limited to a single black colorway in South Korea for 299,000 won (approximately $220). Samsung plans to expand retail availability to international markets, with localized pricing and delivery windows to be confirmed at a later stage.
