The development team behind Bazzite has launched Bazzite 45, a major release of the gaming focused Linux distribution. The update introduces Linux kernel 7.2.15, broadens controller support for handheld devices like the Acer Predator Atlas 8, and adds diagnostic tools for upcoming Epic Games anti cheat systems. The operating system is available now as a free download from the official project website.
Bazzite 45 builds upon Fedora Kinoite 45 and Fedora Silverblue 45 foundations. Users can pick between KDE Plasma 6.8.2 and GNOME 51.1 desktop interfaces. Graphics processing runs through the Mesa 26.2.6 stack, while the system boots on Linux kernel 7.2.15 with Open Gaming Collective optimizations. Hardware configurations requiring NVIDIA LTS drivers receive a dedicated 6.18.60 kernel build instead. Because the platform uses an atomic update model, users can roll back system files to an earlier state if an update causes errors. System settings and software installations run through the native Bazzite Portal interface.
Developers updated the InputPlumber subsystem to improve input handling on portable consoles and external controllers. This change provides initial compatibility with the Acer Predator Atlas 8, enabling functionality for the M1 and M2 rear buttons alongside the quick access menu. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 profile has transitioned into the stable branch, and drivers now support Logitech TrueForce racing wheels. The extest library now works with the 64 bit beta client of Steam, allowing Steam Input to function properly inside Wayland display environments.
Bazzite 45 prepares systems for Epic Games Easy Anti Cheat Linux v2 through a new command utility called ujust check anticheat. This script scans the machine against incoming security requirements and provides configuration advice, though it does not bypass game security on its own. For network performance, the update adds bpftune and bpfrag tools to manage network settings during online gaming sessions. Download sizes for system updates drop to approximately 100 MB in select scenarios through ZSTD compression and the chunkah utility. Storage maintenance is handled through a dedicated graphical interface for the Btrfs file system.
