iQOO has started factory tooling on a 7 inch mid range smartphone built around a battery capacity exceeding 10000 mAh. Information shared on Weibo by industry insider Digital Chat Station reveals the phone uses a wider flat screen profile to fit the massive power cell. The device is targeting an official release around the middle of 2027.
The upcoming iQOO model pairs a flat 7 inch screen with a battery rated above 10000 mAh. Digital Chat Station indicated in follow up comments that premium flagship models could also adopt this 7 inch footprint with higher resolution 2K panels. Meanwhile parent brand vivo is preparing a smaller wide screen model measuring under 6.5 inches for the same release period.
Major Chinese smartphone brands are planning a broad shift toward wider screen ratios. Reporting from IT Home points to OPPO and Honor as the first companies expected to bring wide flat designs to market. Active projects include camera focused hardware, performance flagships, and accessible mid range devices. All top 5 domestic manufacturers have completed initial project approvals and are accelerating test phases.
This design direction moves away from tall aspect ratios in favor of proportions close to 16:9. Huawei previously tested this concept with the Pura X View, which used a 6.39 inch screen with a 16:9.5 ratio and 2232x1320 resolution. Early OPPO prototypes use true 16:9 screens with equal width ultra thin borders. Manufacturers view these wider dimensions as the next primary competitive area in the smartphone market.
