Motorola Buds 2 Ultra Debut with Bose Sound and Live Translation

Motorola has officially introduced the Buds 2 Ultra, bringing real time translation and touchless head gesture controls to its personal audio catalog. The earbuds combine dual drivers tuned by Bose with active noise canceling and an IP57 water resistance rating. The product arrives in select markets across Europe and the Americas in the coming weeks starting at €199.

Each earbud contains 2 distinct drivers, pairing an 11 mm dynamic unit for bass response with a separate balanced armature unit for high frequency clarity. Sound output is calibrated by Bose engineers, while QuietControl technology modifies ambient noise reduction levels based on the surrounding environment. A transparency mode passes ambient sounds through when needed. Supported playback formats include Hi Res Audio, along with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking spatial audio on compatible Motorola smartphones.

The AI Live Translate tool plays spoken translations directly into the ear during conversations when connected to a compatible Motorola phone running the translation software. Users access the Qira assistant by pressing the left earbud, with hands free voice wake activation planned for a future update. Physical controls support head gestures, allowing users to nod to accept incoming calls or shake their head to decline. Voice calls use 3 microphones per earbud alongside a dedicated voice pickup unit to isolate spoken words from external noise.

The internal batteries deliver up to 8 hours of listening time, extending to 37 hours total when using the charging case. The case charges wirelessly and supports the Moto Snap magnetic accessory system. System features include in ear detection for automatic pausing, dual device multipoint pairing, and hardware tracking through Google Find Hub. Motorola will market the product as the Moto Buds Ultra 27 in select countries, with retail pricing starting at €199 across Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia Pacific.
