Motorola has announced the Signature 27, a flagship handset pairing Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 silicon with official GrapheneOS security support. The phone features a 12000 nit Tandem AMOLED screen, an audio system tuned by Bang & Olufsen, and a 200 MP periscope camera. Global sales begin in the coming months with a starting price of $1599.
The front panel uses a 6.8 inch Extreme AMOLED Duo display with a 2772x1272 resolution and Dolby Vision support. This dual layer tandem design reaches a peak brightness of 12000 nits while lowering power draw by 34% compared to standard single layer panels. Qualcomm supplies the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform alongside 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Motorola cools the processor with an ArcticMesh system that expands the vapor chamber by 40% using diamond infused thermal gel.
The primary camera uses a 50 MP Sony LYTIA L910 sensor with LOFIC technology to stabilize video exposure in difficult lighting. A 200 MP periscope zoom module provides 3x optical magnification and 100x digital zoom for distant subjects. Motorola also added a dedicated EVS action sensor to eliminate motion blur on fast moving subjects. The array finishes with a 50 MP ultrawide camera and a 50 MP front facing camera capable of recording 4K video.
The Signature 27 is the first Motorola smartphone to support GrapheneOS, working in partnership with the open source foundation. Hardware protection relies on the ARM Memory Tagging Extension to prevent memory corruption attacks. Audio is engineered through a partnership with Bang & Olufsen, using custom acoustic modes and speaker chambers. A 7000 mAh battery provides system power, supporting 90W wired charging that delivers a days charge in 12 minutes, alongside 50W wireless charging. The body carries IP68, IP69, and MIL STD 810H durability ratings with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 panels, backed by 7 years of operating system updates.
