Perplexity Teammates Launches Autonomous AI Agents for Enterprise Workflows

Perplexity has launched Teammates, an autonomous system of virtual workers designed to execute complete business projects without constant prompt entry. The agents run on the Perplexity Computer infrastructure, operating 24 hours a day to handle research, data analysis, and workflow tracking in parallel. Access is currently limited to a web preview for subscribers paying $200 per month for the Max tier, with desktop and mobile versions planned for later release.

The system runs on the Perplexity Computer architecture to process multi step objectives independently. Teams can assign entire operational branches to software instead of inputting single prompts. 1 agent can conduct market research while another analyzes data sets and a 3rd monitors live advertising runs. These agents execute their tasks in parallel without bottlenecking each other.

The software retains context from prior projects, local files, and user feedback. When project parameters shift, agents adapt automatically without waiting for fresh prompts. They track ongoing progress independently, alerting human operators only when project milestones require review or authorization.

Users manage each virtual worker through dedicated message threads to audit output or alter direction. Managers can seize direct control of an agent workspace when manual intervention is required. Beyond individual chats, agents collaborate directly with each other and interact with human employees inside company Slack channels.

Aravind Srinivas, the chief executive officer of Perplexity, stated that future corporate employees could each oversee hundreds of virtual assistants. Rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic are developing competing autonomous software tools. The Teammates tool requires the Perplexity Max subscription priced at $200 per month and remains accessible only through browser sessions for now.
