Tenku Luna: Japan's First Gaming Handheld Emerges

The market for gaming PCs on the go has surely become busy lately. It seems like fresh devices are materializing all the time. Yet now, word is circulating of something a bit unusual – an item known as the Tenku Luna, something that is presented as the very first gaming handheld from a Japanese company. That's a big deal.

So what do we know about the Tenku Luna. Apparently, it's looking to take on some of the larger players, but perhaps with a bit of twist. We're told there's a big announcement due later this week, but some early details have slipped out.

Similar Specs, But a Few Tweaks.

To the best of our knowledge, the Tenku Luna is taking a little inspiration from existing popular devices. To start, it's said to boast a 7-inch display with smooth 1080p resolution and a zippy 120Hz refresh rate – a combination of specs that will sound familiar to anyone who's looked at devices like the Asus ROG Ally.

Interestingly, for operation brains, Tenku has apparently chosen the Ryzen 7 7840U. That's a decent chip, of course, but it's a previous generation than AMD's now latest like the Ryzen 7 8840U or even latest Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. It will be interesting to note how that impacts price and performance.

Nevertheless, the Tenku Luna isn't just a clone. It does seem to have some of its own distinguishing traits. First, it's shipping with a decent 50Wh battery, always a welcome addition to gaming on the go. Second, it comes with two USB4 ports – the one on top and then another at the bottom. That extra connectivity could be a real plus for peripherals and charging.

More Details to Follow

For now, information like price and where and when you can get one is being kept secret. But mark the date. Tenku will let all the cats out of the bag on May 17th at 02:00 UTC. We'll be curious to see the big picture and see how this new Japanese entry plans to carve its niche in the packed handheld market.
