Complete 3D Remake of Dragon Quest VII will Release on February 2026

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined has been officially announced to be released worldwide on February 5, 2026. It is a classic JRPG that has undergone full remake by Square Enix. The game will be available on both current and next-generation systems on a wide range of platforms.

Complete Reconstruction, Not a Port to the 3DS

The company also added that this new version is a complete 3D remake built from the ground up, not a port of the Nintendo 3DS remake from years ago, which put to rest some earlier speculation.

So far, the decisions seem to point toward graphical advancement: updates to UI, and a different fighting system. The new style appears to fit more with the more recent games in the series, such as Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, hinting at a huge graphical and mechanical uplift for entry that's been around so long.

Platforms and Date

There will be simultaneous worldwide release for the Dragon Quest VII remake. It will be on the following platforms:

  • PC
  • PS5
  • PS4
  • Xbox Series X and Series S
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Nintendo Switch 2
