OnePlus Concludes Hasselblad Partnership, Unveils Its In-House DetailMax Camera Engine

The longstanding collaboration between OnePlus and Hasselblad is now officially over. OnePlus CEO Pit Lau confirmed the move, adding that the company will now utilize the proprietary DetailMax Engine for processing images on its smartphones.

DetailMax Engine Explained

The engine was developed in-house by OnePlus engineers, and is supposed to serve all categories of image processing, including but not limited to color reproduction and white balance. Pit Lau says one of the main driving factors is clarity and realism in photos through computational visualization. The technology was based on feedback from users, and shows promising results in the initial phase of testing.

Reflecting on the Hasselblad Collaboration

For the last five years, the collaboration with Hasselblad was centered on tuning image processing algorithms for the top-end OnePlus smartphones. OnePlus thanked the Swedish brand for the collaboration, claiming to have gained valuable technical expertise and a fine aesthetic sensibility from the partnership.

OnePlus 15 and Beyond

And going forward, the company promises to offer OnePlus 15, its best smartphone ever on photo realism and clarity-an opportunity for the DetailMax Engine to shine.
