The director Kota Furushima presented complete information about Beasts of Reincarnation which is set in Japan during the year 4026 as a post apocalyptic action RPG. The studio ventures into new territory with this project which follows Emma and her rot dog companion Coo on their adventure. The game shows how people need to survive together while their species faces total extinction.
The game depicts how one human and one animal must survive in a harsh world during their quest. The world design creates a sense of isolation and destruction according to Furushima but having a partner brings about both trust and companionship. The development team established this base principle which required the game to use photorealistic backgrounds for creating an atmosphere of harsh world while maintaining character designs that include a touch of stylization for enhanced visual presentation.
The narrative occurs two thousand years after modern society experienced its total destruction. The Kanto region to Kyoto journey establishes the game world through a wide single road which divides into separate districts for exploration instead of offering an open world experience. The essential lore elements include these components
- Golems Machines which contain human souls that have been transplanted establish control over the remaining human settlements.
- Corrupted Bodies The main enemies of the game consist of animals which become infected with filth parasitic organisms.

Beasts of Reincarnation features a combat system that combines real time battles with players choosing their battle commands during gameplay. Emma becomes the main character who players control as Coo provides assistance during her missions. The game features these elements
- Blooming Techniques Players can trigger these powerful moves which slow down time significantly to create conditions for strategic thinking during intense fight sequences.
- Parrying Successful parries build points which players need to use for activating Emma’s special awakening techniques.
- Coo’s Role The partner dog performs his skills automatically but players can choose to issue him particular tasks. Players can equip up to six skills for Coo as their intimacy grows.
- Customization Emma and Coo possess three separate skill trees which enable players to choose between stealth, long range combat, and pure stat based power.
Coo’s combat abilities depend on the player’s physical connection with him. Players can pet, feed, and cook meat for Coo. Furushima stated that these actions exist to meet the players who want to interact with their companion despite offering minimal gameplay benefits. The game maintains its single player mode to create an environment dedicated to developing this special relationship.
The main story of the game requires approximately 40 hours to complete but dedicated players will discover additional content to explore after finishing the primary story missions.
This is the first Game Freak project built on Unreal Engine 5. A small core team from Game Freak leads the project’s direction but they must collaborate with outside artists and engineers such as Kazuma Koda and Yuki Morita to achieve the intended photorealistic visual style and technical requirements. The game currently operates in its final stage of development and players can experience all game content from beginning to end.
Beasts of Reincarnation is set to launch during Summer 2026. The game provides multiple difficulty settings and strategic options so players who lack strong combat skills can access the entire game experience.
