Truck Driver The American Dream Coming to Steam in 2026
The American Dream of Truck Driver will open its doors to Steam users in 2026. Kyodai has officially announced that Truck Driver: The American Dream is heading to PC via Steam in Early 2026. The PC version which will release later brings new gameplay elements and improved technical performance which uses Unreal Engine 5 to enhance the existing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S game.
Steam users can access a playable demo which allows them to experience the simulation before the game reaches its full release date.
The game follows Nathan who decides to become a truck driver after his father who was a respected driver dies. The game focuses more on character development and storytelling than typical simulation games do. As you complete jobs, you interact with your family and the local community, building connections while navigating the hardships of life on the road.
The Steam release includes several additions not found in the initial console versions:
- New Missions: 10 new Freedom to Roam missions which increase the total to more than 150 missions.
- Extra Content: Freedom to Roam mode now includes an additional drivable truck.
- Survival Mechanics: A new Hunger System requires players to manage their nutrition through mandatory restaurant visits.
- Vista System: A "treasure hunt" mode which requires players to find specific locations by matching photos with real world landmarks.
- Customization: The game offers new story mode avatars for main characters and players can select from a wide range of truck part and paint options.
The game uses Unreal Engine 5.5.4 to deliver a realistic driving experience through its advanced visual technologies. Players will experience dynamic weather patterns and continuous day night transitions with the added option of hardware ray tracing.
PC specific optimizations include:
- Steering Wheel Support: All Logitech devices including G923 G920 and G29 work perfectly with this feature.
- Upscaling Technology: The tool now supports both the current Nvidia and AMD image upscalers .
- Steam Deck Profile: The handheld console of Valve has a dedicated graphics preset that works best with its system.
- Manual Tweaking: Users can adjust performance and visual quality through an advanced graphics menu which lets them change graphical settings.
- HDR Support: The system delivers HDR support to all monitors which support this feature.
