Moondrop Launches Armature Art 24 Flagship Earphones Featuring 48 Drivers With Advanced Acoustic Waveguides and Professional High Fidelity Sound Performance
Moondrop has officially launched its flagship audio device of this generation, the Armature Art 24. A set of earphones featuring the most dense acoustic architecture found on a commercially available pair. A total of 24 balanced armatures can be found inside of each earpiece resulting in a colossal 48 drivers for the pair of monitors. The headphones are designed for professional use and high fidelity reproduction, utilizing different drivers for distinct frequency ranges.
The distribution is weighted to produce immense low end performance, as explained in the official Moondrop launch document. A cluster of 16 balanced armatures have been housed inside a specially developed SUPERWOOFER for the low end frequencies, whilst 4 dedicated drivers work to produce the mid and high end frequencies, followed by 4 specialized tweeters for the extremely high frequencies. Moondrop states this extremely discrete driver array ensures ideal separation of frequencies without any interference between the drivers, ultimately yielding a low distortion harmonic profile throughout the spectrum.
Getting 24 separate drivers within a single monitor unit requires sophisticated manufacturing technology. To avoid issues from physical drivers interfering with each other, 3D printed acoustic wave channels have been used to individually route the output from each cluster to the listening cavity. These physically align each drivers output so that the sound waves from each reaches the eardrum at the same time preventing any negative acoustic effects from phase cancellation. Moreover, there is also proprietary time delay simulation technology that can emulate natural acoustic reflection so that listening to instruments and vocals within a larger mix feels like they are within their correct position on the soundstage.
The physical build is equally premium and the accessories provided live up to the audio product itself. The included 0.78mm 2 pin cable has been made from an amalgam of both high grade silver and monocrystalline copper to guarantee the cleanest signal path to the earphones, as well as removable modular jacks allowing for connection via either unbalanced 3.5mm audio source, or a balanced 4.4mm audio source.
From a purely theoretical perspective, the technical performance of the Armature Art 24 is highly competitive. An extended 7 35,000 Hz frequency response, and an impressive sensitivity of 119dB to allow for adequate amplification when used with any Portable Audio Player or Digital to Analog Converter. For optimum sealing, a multitude of tips come with the unit including a pair of medical grade silicone tips, as well as a pair of medical grade hybrid ear tips to further negate sound from the surrounding environment.
This product appears to occupy a position within the higher tiers of the personal audio market. The retail price in China is set at 6,999 Yuan, which translates to roughly 1,030 US dollars. The Armature Art 24 is aimed at high fidelity enthusiasts and recording professionals requiring the highest possible fidelity out of their audio source, the extreme resolution offered by 48 balanced armatures will be invaluable in professional monitoring situations.
