Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro International Launch Features Leica Camera Systems Silicon Carbon Batteries and Flagship Dimensity Processors
Xiaomi has officially announced the design of its new generation phone for the international market with the Xiaomi 17T and the Xiaomi 17T Pro. The device mainly concentrates on camera quality, processing speed and the retaining of power. It state in the official Xiaomi launch presentation that these hardware improvements come at a price rise of roughly €100 for all the devices against last generation models.
The key hardware revolution is the inclusion of a 50mp periscope camera module with 5x optical zoom. This sensor has an equiv. Of 115mm focal length and can shoot macro photography from 30cm away. It also boasts an optical hybrid zoom image quality for 10x without softening and a 120x digital zoom, enhanced by ML. The standard and the Pro also both have Leica Summilux lenses with hardware level optical image stabilization.
The size of sensors varies between the 2 models in order to create a tangible hardware hierarchy. The high end Xiaomi 17T Pro houses a hefty Light Fusion 950 sensor at 1/1.31 inch; the baseline model makes do with the less capable Light Fusion 800 sensor at 1/1.55 inch. The Pro also allows recording of 4K@60 fps HDR10+color depth and Log profiles. Software upgrades include Leica Live Moment & Leica Live Portrait that record 15 20 sec videoclips before and after an image is snapped, plus a dedicated stage mode for camera exposure calibration under aggressive concert lighting conditions.
Power delivery has undergone a significant physical upgrade with the switch to high density silicon carbon battery chemistry. The standard Xiaomi 17T now utilizes a 6500 mah cell and the premium Xiaomi 17T Pro utilizes a colossal 7000 mah cell, making it the largest capacity smartphone battery model ever released by Xiaomi in the world market. Charging speeds are rated at 100 watt wired charging and 50 watt wireless charging for the Pro model and the standard model is rated at 67 watt wired charging.
Silicon is integrated with various chipsets from MediaTek. While the Xiaomi 17T is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 platform, the 17T Pro is based on the flagship Dimensity 9500 processor. This new processing architecture is said by Xiaomi to offer 33 percent more graphics rendering power in a direct comparison to the previous generation, across the board. The screens have also been designed to compensate for this performance. The standard 17T features a 6.59 in OLED display, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, while the Pro features a larger 6.83 in display, and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Both screens offer 1.5K resolution, with a refresh rate of 12 bits and a peak brightness of 3500 nits, with the Pro model incorporating technology that dims the screen to 1 nit in low light conditions, to be more comfortable for human eyes.
The present hardware aspects are also enhanced with the support for stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and regional support for eSIM cards. The wireless connection details are also varied for 2 versions. The Xiaomi 17T Pro is installed with Wi Fi 7 (including Bluetooth 6 with dual channel) but the other with Wi Fi 6 E. The retail cost in EU for the Xiaomi 17T, is at 750 for the Xiaomi 17 T whereas the 17T Pro at 900 Euros.
