Huawei Nova 16z Launches with Kirin 8020 and 3x Optical Zoom Telephoto Camera

Huawei Nova 16z Budget Smartphone Features Kirin 8020 Hardware High Res 50MP Cameras and Massive 6000mAh Battery Capacity for the China Market

Huawei’s Nova 16z, the least expensive model from its new Nova 16 line of smartphones, was released with the aim of meeting the battery life, charging and hi res camera needs of the younger demographic, without many of the premium features. It still includes important top end hardware, particularly in its cameras.

Under the hood, there is the Kirin 8020 chip which has been manufactured at a 4 nanometer process. This device will run on HarmonyOS 6.1. Huawei chose a 6.7 inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. For eye strain during prolonged reading the device supports 2160Hz of PWM dimming. It also has its fingerprint scanner integrated in to the power button, whereas the others come with an under display finger print reader.

In terms of battery, a huge 6000mAh has been packed in to keep the phone going for more than a day. This is also supported by HUAWEI SuperCharge technology where it takes a very short time to fully charge up.

It comes with two cameras on its rear; a 50MP main and a 12MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. On the front, a 50MP selfie camera is present to offer hi res shots and great video calls. The Red Maple color algorithm from Huawei is featured on the device, analyzing the lighting on your picture to offer accurate skin tone and true colors.

Currently it is available to purchase in China in two memory variants:

  • The cheapest variant available with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage has been priced at 2699 Yuan ($399)
  • The variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage has a price of 3199 Yuan ($472)
