Lenovo has shared official details about an upgraded version of its compact gaming tablet, the Legion Y700. The upcoming mobile device adds a high speed OLED screen and mobile network connectivity to the compact gaming lineup. But buyers will have to wait until next month for the full retail launch.
Dubbed the Legion Y700 Wuji, this new tablet features an 8.4 inch OLED display running at a 165 Hz refresh rate. Gamers get a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels mapped on a Real RGB subpixel structure. Local peak brightness can reach up to 4000 nits, which helps the panel secure Dolby Vision certification. Color accuracy looks professional with a Delta E rating under 1 and complete coverage of the DCI P3 color gamut. The display also employs 10 bit color depth via FRC processing.
Lenovo is focusing on long play sessions by packing 6 hardware and 4 software safety systems into the screen. High brightness levels use DC Dimming, while lower settings shift to high frequency PWM dimming running at 3840 Hz. The manufacturer claims this setup limits harmful blue light emissions to under 6.75%. Night owls can dim the screen all the way down to 1 nit. Quick reflexes are supported by an instant touch sampling rate of 3400 Hz, a screen response time of 0.3 milliseconds, and a total system latency of 39 milliseconds.
The biggest functional change is the inclusion of 5G cellular hardware. For the first time, this model allows users to make phone calls directly from the tablet. You can load 2 mobile connections at once using a physical SIM card slot alongside a digital eSIM profile. The tablet uses a distributed antenna configuration to keep cellular signals stable whether you hold the device in a portrait or landscape grip. Most other internal hardware remains identical to the standard Legion Y700 released earlier this year.
