Goodram Master PCIe Gen5 SSD Reaches 14000 MBps with DRAMless Design

Goodram has introduced the Master, a high speed PCIe Gen5 solid state drive capable of hitting 14000 MB/s read speeds. Built on an M.2 2280 form factor, the storage drive uses a DRAMless controller architecture that lowers power draw by up to 27%. It comes in 1TB and 2TB capacities backed by a 5 year warranty.

Polish storage maker Goodram designed the Master SSD to push sequential data transfers while keeping power requirements in check. The drive uses a PCIe Gen5 x4 interface to reach peak read speeds of 14000 MB/s on both capacities. Writing performance changes based on the model you select. The 1TB version tops out at 9000 MB/s, while the 2TB version pushes write speeds up to 13000 MB/s.

Skipping a dedicated DRAM chip helps reduce overall power consumption by up to 27% compared to earlier Gen5 storage drives. Random read and write performance remains fast despite the lack of onboard memory. The 1TB model hits 1500K IOPS for both random reads and random writes. Upgrading to the 2TB model pushes random reads up to 2000K IOPS and random writes to 1700K IOPS.

Thermal control relies on your desktop setup because the SSD is designed to work directly with motherboard heatsinks. Endurance ratings scale with storage size, offering 500 TBW for the 1TB edition and 1000 TBW for the 2TB edition. Goodram includes a 5 year limited warranty with both models, giving PC builders a high performance storage option for gaming and heavy workloads.
