Keychron has officially released the Q13 Ultra 8K, an all aluminum mechanical keyboard built around a compact 96% Alice ergonomic layout. The board offers an ultra fast 8kHz polling rate across both wired and 2.4GHz wireless connections, alongside a massive 660 hour battery rating. It is currently available for $249.99.

The keyboard uses an Alice split layout that angles the key clusters to reduce wrist strain during long typing sessions. Keychron built the exterior chassis from solid aluminum and fitted it with an embossed PC bottom plate. Inside the frame, the board relies on a gasket mount system cushioned by 6 layers of acoustic dampening material to eliminate unwanted case ping. The PCB is hot swappable and features south facing RGB LED lighting to ensure wide compatibility with custom keycap profiles.

Buyers can pick between black and white case finishes. Keychron offers 3 distinct Silk POM switch options right out of the box, including Red, Brown, and Banana tactile variants. The keyboard comes factory equipped with durable double shot PBT keycaps sculpted in the tall KSA profile. For media controls, the top section houses a metal rotary knob for quick volume adjustments. The board also includes screw in PCB stabilizers and a dedicated wireless antenna cutout in the aluminum body to maintain a steady signal.

Speed is the standout upgrade on the Ultra model. The keyboard delivers an 8kHz polling rate over standard USB C cables and 2.4GHz wireless links, which cuts input lag down to a fraction of standard mechanical boards. Powered by open source ZMK firmware, the internal 4000mAh battery delivers up to 660 hours of continuous wireless use before you need to plug it back in.
