Other World Computing has introduced a new USB4 Hub designed for Mac, PC, and iPad Pro setups. The compact dock features 1 HDMI 2.1 port, 3 USB4 ports, and delivers up to 81W of charging power to connected laptops. It is available now with a retail price of $130.
The single HDMI 2.1 port handles video output up to 4K resolution at 120Hz. If your host computer supports Display Stream Compression, that refresh rate can climb up to 240Hz for smoother motion. It can also push an 8K signal at 60Hz on compatible displays. Your actual resolution ceiling will depend on the graphical limits of your connected hardware.
For data transfer, OWC packed 3 USB4 ports running at 40Gbps alongside 2 USB 3.2 ports that top out at 10Gbps. Power comes from a dedicated wall adapter that routes up to 81W directly back to your laptop battery. The metal enclosure is made from aluminum alloy and uses passive cooling to shed heat. Because there is no internal fan, the hub operates completely silent during heavy data transfers.
